UPDATE: Russia allows imports of Turkish onion, cauliflower, broccoli

MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has extended the list of permitted imports from Turkey, including dianthus flowers, onion, cauliflower and broccoli, according to a statement published on the Web site of the government on Friday.

Spokeswoman for the Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service Yulia Melano told PRIME that Turkish producers will not need to update their documents or invite Russian inspectors for quality checks to start exports.

“This depends on business, on when they are able to establish business processes with partners. The start of supplies is only in the business domain.”

Russia embargoed supplies of Turkish food on January 1, 2016 as an economic measure in response to an attack on a Russian military jet by Turkish air forces.

In October 2016, the government issued a ruling to allow imports of oranges, tangerines, apricots, peaches, plums and blackthorn from Turkey. But imports of grapes, apples, pears, strawberry, tomatoes and some other fruit and vegetables are still prohibited.
